I forget where I first heard of this, but I understand it as a symbol representing eternity, but more so than the fallen-8 infinity symbol, one of eternity in the natural world. It appealed to me enormously and instantly, much like the DNA/Moebius on my arm.
It's definitely strong tattoo material.
My "sense of humor" often follows the snake-eating-its-own-tail pattern, as much wordplay does. "If you tune your guitar from the piano, you shoulda packed in the piano too (or not brought the guitar camping)." See? It's a snake eating its own tail. And the best part: if you let it continue (ad absurdem), it eventually eats its own head and disappears entirely! Pristine and perfect!
Was semi-surprised (but really, duh!) to find all sorts of *religious* connections (and a coupla great images) at http://www.ldolphin.org/uroboros.html. This one's kinda cute: http://www.nternet.com/~jthunderbird/bc2.html
And I inadvertently got a couple of rubber stamps for T, with variations on the symbol, or combined with others (the Egg, another SUB-tul symbol), at the farmer's market, of all places....
Ringo (our king) seemed actually comfortable in my hands today -- he sat still for an extended period, not trying to find a crevasse to disappear into. Made my day, really, after an otherwise indifferent day...
