This part of the Estero Trail makes for a really nice bike ride, with three moderately-difficult hills each way, and a great beach at the end.
I've done this before a couple of times, on foot and wheels.
In Point Reyes National Seashore, take Sir Francis Drake Blvd past Inverness. After you pass the right turn for McClure's Beach and Tomales point, the second left turn goes to a dirt parking lot at the top of a knoll.
It was very windy, but we got areas of calm as we passed behind hills and other breaks.
That first stretch is really pleasant, a smooth downhill coast on a narrow double-track through open pasture land, and then through a small evergreen forest.
You then cross the estero on a land bridge with a real bridge in the middle.
On the other side, the first uphill. Each of these hills is just steep enough to get you sweating and short enough that you have energy for the next after the downhill. The downhills are "technical" enough to be interesting to the most experienced rider, but also doable for schmos like me who get a little thrill from easing off the brakes a tiny bit on the way down. There are a few places where the trail is muddy (and indeed this trail is likely to be impassable during the rainy months and the early spring), and there are some ditches through which we thought it prudent to walk the bikes rather than risk going over the handlebars.
The final downhill to Sunset Beach had long stretches of smooth riding on grass - really nice.
I saw a lot of critters today, including a jackrabbit, garter snake, a red-tail (which dropped its prey as it floated up into view - I'm not sure if I startled it), white egrets and blue herons, an osprey and the usual seals and little crabs at the beach, and a deer with two fawns.

I think my film has been overexposed by heat, riding as it has in my backpack for a couple of weeks, but we'll see.
