I discovered the sculptures on Florence Street a few weeks ago. The artist is Patrick Amiot and he lives on the street. Recently an anonymous critic left notes on the batman and fireman. Evidently, the "Sebastopol Bear" doesn't think trash can be art, even though y'know the word "trash" contains the word "art" and all... Stupid. I think the sculptures are wonderful, and I now take Florence Street instead of Bodega Ave/12 all the time.
This route combines two rather steep hills and considerable mileage. I'm hoping my rear tire continues to hold air for 50 more miles and I can replace the tire when I get the 2100-mile maintenance done. It almost seems like the slick(ened) rear tire works better on pavement. Today, on a nice long downhill on Bodega Highway, I hit at least 42 mph - the fastest I've gone, I think (and about as fast as I want to go on a busy road with no shoulder!).
