Mt. Burdell - 4/12/2002

Sort of a spur-of-the-moment choice, I grabbed the "Open Spaces" book (Lands of the Marin County Open Space District, by Barry Spitz - PDF order form) and picked this area because I wanted to get pictures of Big Rock Ridge (see 03/31 and 04/04) et al from this northern vantage point. And because it's not *too* difficult a climb to get to the summit area. There are a lot of trees at the highest point, so no 360s here. But it was a very clear day (after a couple of rainy days earlier in the week) and so I got some nice views, and at least a 180-degree series that includes Big Rock, San Francisco, and Mt. Diablo, and then another series showing about 100 degrees of the northeastern view.

Caterpillars were everywhere today; you see them on the picnic table in the photo with the bike. Lots of wildflowers of all kinds.
